Design Post Days will also kick off the new "Furniture Ecologies" series of events. The masterclass and discussion series, looks at the furniture industry as an ecosystem of different players, from materials researchers and furniture manufacturers, to producers and fabricators, to new design talent and established furniture brands. In the form of a live event series and comprehensive library, "Furniture Ecologies" facilitates interdisciplinary exchange and gathers practical tools, methods, and strategies to guide a tradition-rich industry toward sustainable change. 

For the 1st edition of Furniture Ecologies on the theme "TRANSITION" on October 1, 2021, Design Post Cologne invites an international panel to capture a snapshot of sustainable practices in the industry today. Moderated by Emma Lucek, the 1st edition will bring together Emma Olbers (Emma Olbers Design), Charlotte van der Lancken (CVDLAB), Dominik Campanella (Concular), Ruud Belmans (WeWantMore Studio), Cecilia Sebesta (Emeco), Martin Beeh (Material. Cologne), Andrea Mulloni (Arper) and Anna Berglind (H&M) came together to discuss the changing status quo - from reinventing business models to integrating research and science to new knowledge networks.

In addition to the new exhibitors, the three newly designed areas, Patio Space, Work Space and Studio Space, can of course be experienced by the general public for the first time. The Patio Space designed by Hamburg-based Studio Besau-Marguerre - implemented with the support of top-class brand partners - is a hybrid meeting place with café and lounge areas: a pleasant, informal setting for a meeting, lunch or to work in a relaxed environment with many amenities. The Work Space, designed together with the Cologne-based sales agency (?) MBSY, is a flexible, open coworking area created especially for individuals or anyone who does not need a permanent office and appreciates optimal flexibility. The Studio Space is an exhibition space designed for active use. The flexible, modular furniture from partner brand System180 can be used for agile teamwork, workshops, design thinking and much more.

The Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln presented "Design Gruppe Pentagon" - 35 years after its founding - a first monographic museum show of the Cologne-based Pentagon Group (1985-1991), one of the protagonists of New German Design. 

In the early 1980s, a young generation of designers throughout the FRG broke with the "good form" that had been characteristic of German design until then. Inspired by the concepts of Memphis and Alchimia in Italy, German design also experienced a radical renewal. One of the protagonists was the Cologne-based collective Gruppe Pentagon, founded in 1985 by Gerd Arens, Wolfgang Laubersheimer, Reinhard Müller, Ralph Sommer and Meyer Voggenreiter. Pentagon worked with steel and Plexiglas, combined them with stone, rubber or leather, also with everyday objects, and gave the whole thing a postmodern kick. In 1987 the collective was part of documenta 8 and at the Sāo Paulo Biennial with the project "Café Casino". After that they exhibited in Milan, Rotterdam and Vienna, among other places.

The expansive staging of the exhibition at the MAKK was designed by the Pentagon members as a collective and is the first joint work since documenta 8. The works of the group members, almost all of which come from private collections, were presented in an expansive installation in the central exhibition hall. The furniture became performers in front of a film collage that reflected on the 1980s and placed the works in a cultural and contemporary historical context. 

Part of this installation was the "Café Casino": the café, which was installed in the rooms of a former discotheque in Kassel for 100 days in 1987, included specially designed furniture - such as the iconic d8 chairs with their zig-zag look - but also objects that were "rebranded" using the Pentagon stamp. For example, tableware from a German porcelain manufacturer or glasses from a likewise German glass manufacturer were transformed into Pentagon tableware or Pentagon glasses. This exciting change of authorship was on the one hand a tongue-in-cheek provocation, but on the other hand also a sign of the confrontation with traditional values. The comprehensive design of the "Café Casino" did not stop at the furnishings and utensils, however; the selection of food offered and the accompanying menu were also developed together. At the MAKK, part of the café, including the bar tables that were destroyed at the time, was reconstructed on the basis of original designs and "revived" within the framework of actions.

Another exhibition area was dedicated to the graphic works - the drafts, drawings, business papers, catalogs and commercial prints such as posters or invitation cards. These documents, preserved in private collections, could be presented here for the first time and gave an exciting insight into the activities of the entire group. The nucleus and heart of the group was the legendary Pentagon Gallery, founded in 1985 and originally conceived as a producer's gallery. However, this gallery then also caused a sensation with a dedicated exhibition program: Möbel Perdu, Siegfried Syniuga, Jasper Morrison, Stiletto, Hans-Peter Adamski or Andreas Brandolini became elective relatives with objects at the interface between art and design - and caused a stir not only in Cologne. Added to this were the often ambiguous titles for their own or group exhibitions, which not coincidentally also took aim at the political situation in the 1980s. "Autumn Maneuvers," "Economic Wars," or "Status Symbols," "Grip in the Dust," and finally "Actionism Again" make one startle as well as smile in equal measure.

A catalog with interviews and numerous illustrations has been published to accompany the exhibition. In addition, a limited vinyl edition with the tracks to the exhibition installation by Thomas Fehlmann, Justus Köhncke, The Bionaut, GRAY, in collaboration with Kompakt Schallplatten, Cologne.

Design Group Pentagon January 13 - April 26, 2020 MAKK – Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln

In search of rare production sites, designers Karoline Fesser, Klemens Grund, Tim Kerp and Thomas Schnur traveled to the French cultural site Centre International d'Art Verrier (CIAV) in Meisenthal. From four different perspectives they portrayed the border region, the craftsmen and the material glass by means of objects. For the Urban Design Parcours they give an insight into their work.

From January 18 - 23, 2021, the designers of Generation Cologne will present the results of their cooperation with the Glass Culture Center CIAV Meisenthal in the Church of St. Gertrud in Cologne, built by Gottfried Böhm.

In search of production sites that put people and materials first, designers Karoline Fesser, Klemens Grund, Tim Kerp and Thomas Schnur traveled to Meisenthal, France. The border region of the Northern Vosges is home to a centuries-long glass tradition, preserved by the Centre International d'Art Verrier (CIAV) cultural site. 

The designers met glass artisans who have practiced their craft for decades, yet challenge it every day. Confronted with contradictory impressions of a region on the move, they worked hand in hand with glass masters Jean-Marc and Momo to create objects that celebrate glass as a material as well as portray the region.

In keeping with the experience and skills of the glassblowers and the malleability of the glass, some 25 objects were created that reflect the different approaches of the designers. Some are based on one of the 2,000 steel molds in the in-house mold library, for others entirely new molds were made from wood, sheet metal or stone, and still others manage entirely or without molds at all.

The glass objects will be exhibited in 2021 in the Church of St. Gertrud in Cologne, built by Cologne architect Gottfried Böhm - a structure that translates the rubble of the past into a hopeful meeting place.

The project is curated by Passagen founder Sabine Voggenreiter and supported by KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderungs-GmbH.

"Generation Köln" currently acts as a mouthpiece in design. The exhibition format was founded in 2017 by Sabine Voggenreiter, curator and maker of the Passagen in Cologne.

The grouping currently consists of Karoline Fesser, Klemens Grund, Tim Kerp and Thomas Schnur. What unites the four is at the same time the core of their work: they investigate the correlation between man, material and production. They make their questions tangible through objects and experienceable through exhibitions.  

After the kick-off exhibition at DDW 2017, exhibitions followed at Bureau Europa in Maastricht (2018), at Passagen in Cologne (2018 / Galerie Ruttkowski, 2019 / Bunker am Bahngleis, 2020 / Galerie Martina Kaiser) and in 2020 at Werkraum Bregenzerwald in Andelsbuch. 

The exhibition format serves the mutual criticism as well as the communication of personal points of view in the design of furniture and products. Originally initiated as a platform for personal statements, the exhibition format currently consists of a group of designers who examine and reflect socially relevant topics with the help of their designs. In 2019, Karoline Fesser, Klemens Grund, Tim Kerp and Thomas Schnur initiated a cooperation with the craftsmen of Werkraum Bregenzerwald. They traveled to the Austrian border region of Vorarlberg, which they portrayed using products made of silver fir and showed at Galerie Martina Kaiser in Cologne. The experience of encountering exceptionally well-founded craftsmanship and production sites of sustainability in the Bregenzerwald led them to their current project: a trip to the cultural site Centre International d`Art Verrier in Meisenthal. Here, in cooperation with the glassblowers, they created objects that will be exhibited in 2021 in the Church of St. Gertrud, built by Cologne architect Gottfried Böhm.

Isabel Hamm designs and produces glass chandeliers and chandeliers as individual pieces or in small series, which, in addition to their purpose as a source of light, have above all a sculptural quality and thus become a statement in the room.Isabel Hamm began her career with an apprenticeship as a ceramist, which she completed with the title of master.

In 1998, she earned a master of art in ceramics and glass from the royal college of art in London. In 1999 she founded her studio in Cologne and designed products in the field of tableware and home accessories. While establishing herself as a product designer, her work with glass became increasingly important.

In 2002, Austrian architect Monika Gogl encouraged her to design glass chandeliers for architectural projects. Finally, she focused entirely on glass chandeliers and in 2004 established the label Isabel Hamm Licht under which the chandeliers are sold. These are individually designed and produced on behalf of architects or private customers.

Studio Kuhlmann wurde 2017 von Hannah Kuhlmann gegründet. Im Gegensatz zu gewöhnlichen Designstudios wird jedes Objekt in ihrer eigenen Werkstatt entworfen und hergestellt. Im Jahr 2015 machte sie ihren Abschluss in Produktdesign an der Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Maastricht, Niederlande.  Hannah Kuhlmann ist eine interdisziplinäre Designerin mit einem Schwerpunkt auf zeitgenössischem Sammlerstück-Design. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich an der Grenze zwischen gesellschaftlich akzeptiertem Möbeldesign und konzeptionellem Objektdesign und wurde in Mailand, Eindhoven und Antwerpen ausgestellt. Außerdem entwickelt sie Einrichtungskonzepte für Geschäfte, Cafés oder Messen. Als Kuratorin lanciert sie regelmäßig Ausstellungen und versammelt die junge Kunstszene an spektakulären Orten; 2018 gewann sie gemeinsam mit Jana Manfroid den PASSAGEN-PREIS für die Ausstellung "Homo Ludens" bei den Kölner PASSAGEN. Ihre kuratorische Arbeit fasst sie unter dem Titel 101PS - Projektraum zusammen und gründet 2020 den gleichnamigen Projektraum in Köln-Nippes. 

Für Hannah Kuhlmann sind Einrichtungsgegenstände mehr als Dinge des täglichen Gebrauchs. Sie verkörpern kulturelle Bräuche und ermöglichen soziale Begegnungen. So entstehen in ihrem Kölner Designstudio Objekte, die neben ihrer Funktion als Möbelstück auch die Interaktion mit dem eigenen Körper fördern.

I work like an archaeologist: through design I make visible what is already there. I go to places where something is hidden and look for impressions that I feel are relevant. Intuitively, I uncover what is significant to me and make it tangible for others.

Product designer Karoline Fesser (*1983) lives and works in Cologne. After graduating from Aachen University of Applied Sciences, she worked for the design magazine Form in Basel and the Dutch designer Ineke Hans in Arnhem. In 2012, she founded her own studio and has since worked on both freelance and fixed projects for furniture labels and the industry. Focusing on the multi-layered context between people and products, each of her designs tells its own story. Her products have been shown at numerous fairs and exhibitions, including Cologne, Kortrijk, Milan, Paris and New York.

Karoline Fesser's attitude towards design is currently exemplified by her work with the design collective Generation Köln. The designers portray artisanal cultural sites through collaboration and the resulting products. 

In the confrontation with other strong characters, both within the group and in the people we work with, the respective points of view are clarified and sharpened. Decisive for the designs are the material and the skills, possibilities and interests of the craftsmen on site. It is hard to imagine a more direct and respectful way of working.

Between self-image, fulfillment of existence and livelihood: With the exhibition project "WORKSPACE IN PROGRESS" and under the direction of designer and professor Stefan Diez and the team of the department Industrial Design1 of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, students of ID1 question the meanings and challenges of work from the perspective of a generation. Over a period of two semesters, projects were created that question our understanding of work. In addition to examining technological, economic and social changes, the students also dealt with the implications of possible modes of production in a future-oriented circular economy. Initiated by Stefan Diez and curated by Matylda Krzykowski, the works will be presented for the first time at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln from October 6 - 31, 2021, in parallel with a digital program, and will be discussed on site in Cologne and via live stream during a talk event on October 5.

A depot of furniture, lights, clothing, video, devices, and systems forms the center of the discussion: for example, "Moodbooster" by Armin Muhamedagic is an immersive work in the form of a closed silicone ring that conveys a feeling of isolation through smell, sound, vibration, and darkness when the face is pressed into it. Steven Dahlinger developed "Nesting," a modular piece of furniture that folds up into a sofa and unfolds into a personal retreat. With this work, he developed a space within a space that questions today's work environments - a culture of constant availability and dwindling boundaries between work and non-work - and rethinks it as a product. Laura Dominici also ties in with this: Workplaces are changing, and physical presence in a defined place is becoming less important. Work takes place wherever one logs into a laptop - and gives rise to entirely new definitions of spatiality. Her project "Magic Tapestry" is a soft, hand-woven carpet that has an integrated wooden panel that, when placed on the lap, becomes a tabletop.

The "magic" combination of rug and table creates a defined space for work and allows for tactile experiences in an increasingly digital work environment. "Talktile" by Madeleine K. Wieser addresses the relationship between proximity and distance from the perspective of remote work: people working separately from each other in home offices and in globally distributed teams, without a shared, physical office. Isolation and lack of communication can be the consequences. "Talktile" is an organically shaped product with a tactile surface, integrated microphone as well as loudspeaker that conveys the feeling of togetherness despite distance. The interactive object enables spontaneous conversations with colleagues - a shared, tangible moment of interaction that makes communication beyond the digital possible.

An exhibition with performance character: From October in Cologne and in virtual spheres

"WORKSPACE IN PROGRESS" will be on view at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Cologne from 06 - 31 October 2021. Curated by Matylda Krzykowski, the students' individual projects will be activated "in the sense of props on a stage through performances." "Through the actions, expected and perceived challenges such as remote working, lack of movement, the limitation of space or lack of privacy become evident," says Matylda Krzykowski. The exhibition will be digitally broadcast from the museum to social media, making it possible to experience it "remotely." The resulting video material will subsequently be compiled into a film that will document the results in the long term.

Initiated by Stefan Diez and curated by Matylda Krzykowski, "WORKSPACE IN PROGRESS" is planned by Lina Fischer (DIEZOFFICE) and graphically realized by Bureau Borsche. The work was created with the support and coordination of the entire team of ID1. (Elisabeth Wildling, Katrin Sailer, Christian Steiner, Christian Ruschitzka, Jakob Ilera, Christoph van Berg, Marcus Bruckmann, Peter Mahlknecht, Doris Grossi, Ursula Klein and Sofia Podreka). The video production is created in collaboration with Daniel van Hauten, IGTV and Instagram Live broadcasts by the @angewandte_id team. The project could be realized in collaboration with and valuable support from WAGNER-LIVING, Augsburg - including the use of the D2 furniture system in the exhibition design. "WORKSPACE IN PROGRESS" is realized in cooperation with MAKK - Museum of Applied Arts Cologne.

Part of the opening is a roundtable discussion on the thematic focus of the exhibition: in addition to an examination of technological, economic and social changes in our working worlds, the exhibition addresses the implications of possible modes of production in a future-oriented circular economy.

The panelists are: Stefan Diez (designer, professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and initiator of the exhibition), Matylda Krzykowski (curator of the exhibition), Madeleine K. Wieser (designer and exhibitor), Claudia Allonas (founder and CEO of upstream). It will be moderated by René Spitz (professor at the Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln, design critic and author).

The new format Urban Design Parcours of PASSAGEN and DESIGN PARCOURS EHRENFELD took place as a mini festival with 30 exhibitions and projects as well as numerous Ehrenfeld actors* in September 2021.

PASSAGEN 2022 will take place from January 17-23, 2022. The 32nd edition of the design festival PASSAGEN Interior Design Week Cologne is dedicated to the context of design, architecture, urbanity and living and opens the international design season with exhibitions in Cologne's cultural institutions, museums, showrooms, universities, stores and galleries throughout the city. On 172 pages in 329 illustrations, the design process of the German designer Thomas Schnur is presented in the form of sketches, photos and drawings. In iterative processes, Thomas Schnur researches new forms of expression and constructions together with furniture producers. As a self-proclaimed "chairman" in both senses of the word, he designs chairs and furniture that address the ecological, economic and social challenges of our present day. The book was designed by Deutsche & Japaner and is published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König, Cologne. It is produced in the Cradle to Cradle process and consists exclusively of ecological materials.

A Design Research Project of the Research Center “Real-Time City” of TH Köln

The idea of opening up alternative possibilities of participation in the city and society through design was the focus of the project “The Invisible City”, conducted by the TH Köln research center “Real-Time City”. The project dealt with the Ebertplatz in Cologne Neustadt-Nord. With the aim of uncovering and developing the hidden potentials of this controversial place, the informal appropriations, the social and atmospheric milieus, the invisible infrastructures and spatio-temporal orders of the square were examined. 

As part of the design festival PASSAGEN 2019, the individual project works were exhibited in the art space “Tiefgarage” in the Ebertplatzpassage. The project participants created their works in a direct encounter with the local actors on the square. Through the exhibition, visitors were invited to engage with the use and possibilities of Ebertplatz and to participate in the design of the social space.

PASSAGEN 2022 müssen coronabedingt abgesagt werden

Since 2020, Pia Bonnen and Christina Radermacher have been working as Studio BO.macher on joint projects in the field of interior and furniture design. The two know their respective design approaches from their joint product design studies and bring them together in their studio designs. Linear meets organic, detailed meets functional.

Their designs are produced in small batches, always with innovative, sustainable and local manufacturing methods in mind. The BO.macher collection is constantly growing - with sustainability and the fun of designing and making in mind.

Studio Jörg Mennickheim works in the field of product and interior design. The Cologne-based design studio develops corporate interiors, furniture and products for brands and institutions. Clients are global players but also small labels. The studio's approach combines a progressive conceptual approach with a passion for materials, new technologies and craftsmanship. Formal simplicity and intelligent details characterize the projects. Jörg Mennickheim thinks and works in an interdisciplinary way. His studio cooperates with a grown network of digital experts, engineers, craftsmen and universities. Jörg Mennickheim was born in Kassel and grew up there in a traditional family of master carpenters. After training as a carpenter, he studied at the Cologne International School of Design (KISD) and at ENSCI Les Ateliers in Paris. In 2002, Jörg worked for Ronan+Erwan Bouroullec in Paris. Since 2010 he is responsible for the art direction of the product label UTENSIL.Furthermore Jörg leads design workshops for the Vitra Design Museum, Istanbul Design Biennale, Biennale Interieur and other institutions. Since 2015 he teaches at the Peter Behrens School of Arts (PBSA) in Düsseldorf.

Actually, the Cologne furniture fair IMM was supposed to start on January 18, 2021, and with it the annual PASSAGEN, the cultural program accompanying the Cologne fair, was to start again. Together with Artek and Vitra, we wanted to show an extensive exhibition about the work of the Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto in the Markanto Depot this year and present our new Markanto Edition at the same time. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the associated lockdown, the furniture fair and the PASSAGEN were cancelled. We hope that we can make up for the exhibition next year!

The new Markanto Edition consists of two designs by Alvar Aalto from the early 1930s. With the armchair 42, the Finnish architect designed the first cantilever chair ever made of plywood, the classic is still produced today by Artek with a black or white seat. Stool 60, on the other hand, is Alvar Aalto's most successful furniture; he himself also considered the design with L-leg technology to be his most important furniture design. At the same time, the stool 60 is a very nice example of sustainability: even today, numerous stools from the 1930s and 40s are still in use around the world. The long life was also a criterion for Artek just being awarded the German Sustainability Award 2021.

In total, Artek produced three cantilever chairs 42 and 25 stools 60 for Markanto in the Karelian Gold version, a beautiful photo from the production using the historical tools in the Artek manufactory in Turku, Finland can be found here. The product name is derived from the Karelian burl birch used, which is characterized by a wild and fiery structure. This precious wood grows only in the far north and is named after the landscape Karelia, which is located in the border area of Russia and Finland. The use of Karelian curly birch is quite rare, the precious precious wood was used exemplarily for the famous Fabergé eggs at the Russian Tsar's court or for the refinement of hunting knives. Alvar Aalto himself used this particular birch for some of his furniture such as the cantilever chair 42 in the 1930s.

Homo Ludens - An exhibition on the playing human being on the occasion of PASSAGEN 2018. At Kunsthaus Rhenania from 15.01-21.01.2018.

Playing temporarily brings wholeness to our imperfect world and complicated life. Playing we discover our individual qualities and develop our personality. In the exhibition Homo ludens, young talents discover their personal vision of a playful approach to products within the framework of a humorous, multisensory and interactive exhibition architecture.

Homo ludens - the playing human being is an explanatory model according to which humans develop their abilities primarily through play: Man discovers his individual characteristics in play and becomes his personality through the experiences made there. Playing is equated with freedom of action. It requires one's own thinking. Man needs play as an elementary form of finding meaning," the model says: "Play brings a temporary perfection into the imperfect world and into the confused life. Play is the return to the infantile self and allows us to be children again in everyday life. Although play is associated with naivety and carelessness, it nevertheless requires an absolute order.

At various levels, play is framed in frameworks that manifest themselves through a temporal and spatial limitation. The slightest deviation from the set of rules leads to the collapse of a meticulously elaborated set of rules. In the exhibition "Homo Ludens", young product designers are invited to present their personal visions as part of the Passagen supporting program at the International Furniture Fair Imm.

The exhibition is designed to give young talents the opportunity to playfully present their individual visions through the design of the products on display. The focus is on a humorous and interactive exhibition architecture that frames the curatorial concept "Homo Ludens" in a multi-sensory exhibition.

"In my projects I always try to enter into negotiation with the product being designed. I negotiate the weighting of material, manufacture, form, meaning and function. I break down the task into its properties and meanings. Then I analyze, evaluate and construct the idea. In doing so, it is important to me that the products, which often arise from familiar fragments, develop a maximum of independence despite their cross-references. Thus they allow associations, but beyond that develop the potential to become a product in their own right."

Thomas Schnur (*1983) studied product design at the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen after training as a carpenter. During his studies, he worked for Mathieu Lehanneur in Paris, among others, and studied at the École Supérieure d'Art et Design de Saint Étienne. His work has been presented at numerous national and international design platforms. Among them IMM Cologne, Maison et Objet Paris, Salone del Mobile Milan, ICFF New York and Beijing Design Week. Engaging with everyday things, he formulates objects in collaboration with companies such as Functionals, Tecta, Echtstahl and Magazin. In 2017 he published the book Common Things, which was presented with the exhibition of the same name in Munich, Cologne and Leipzig. Since 2015 he has been teaching at Ecosign in Cologne. He has also been a lecturer at the HBK Saar, UdK Berlin as well as the Kunsthochschule Kassel.

The research center “Real-Time City” of TH Köln opened its two temporary city labs in Cologne for the PASSAGEN 2020. From 13 to 19 January 2020, media- and time-based works as well as spatial installations were shown there, which paradigmatically dealt with questions about the ‘right to the city,’ about the handling of inner-city infrastructural wastelands and about the ownership of urban space. The temporary laboratories were located at two contested, symbolically charged sites in Cologne: the former freight depot in Ehrenfeld and Ebertplatz in Neustadt-Nord.

In the “Gleisland” project, design students transformed a former railway building at the western tip of the former freight depot in Cologne Ehrenfeld into an experimental laboratory for participatory urban visions. The project exhibition showed the eventful history of this place, which is characterized by physical mobilization, transport flows and material flows. Experimental works reflected the conversion from former freight depot to new residential quarter and explored the possibilities of changing urban mobility cultures.

In the “Straßenland” project, design students transformed the art space “Gemeinde Köln” on Ebertplatz into a future archive of the (post-)automotive city. The archive was based on the scenario of car-free city centers, according to which automobile spaces are freed up for alternative public uses. The exhibited works showed the potential of such mobility spaces using the example of the Nord-Süd-Fahrt in Cologne.

"The environment staged by CAPPELLINI and PASSAGEN after a scenography by Jasper Morrison on 3,500 sqm in the abandoned industrial architecture "Eckiger Rundbau" in Cologne Deutz from 2001 has been "cult" for 20 years.

Tim Kerp was born in Cologne in 1980. After an apprenticeship as a graphic designer, he studied product and interior design at the FH Aachen. Since 2009 he lives and works again on the Rhine, now with his own studio - with a focus on "home and street furniture. The preference for a clear almost graphic design language is rooted in his professional roots. He combines this with a fascination for the process of manufacturing products. Therefore, his work has already been shown at some international exhibitions and fairs. Since 2017 he has been part of the group "Generation Cologne", an exhibition format initiated by Sabine Voggenreiter (Passagen).
